January 1, 1935 – December 15, 2025
Carole Wild died at Arden Courts of Glen Ellyn on December 15, 2025 after a brief illness. She was born on January 1, 1935 to Arthur and Helen (Downing) Wild in Hamilton, OH. Carole spent her early years in Ohio and New York before moving to Chicago, IL with her family at the end of her 7th grade year. After she graduated from high school in 1952, she began working at the national headquarters for Sears, Roebuck and Company in the Sears/Willis Tower, where she worked as a legal secretary before retiring in 1992.
Carole took full advantage of her proximity to downtown Chicago with regular trips to plays, movies, restaurants, and her favorite stores. Carole loved fashion and always prided herself on her “matchy matchy” outfits with coordinating clothes, purse, shoes, and jewelry. She was also a prolific letter writer who enjoyed sending interesting news clippings, recipes, and movie recommendations to her circle of friends and family. She always remembered their special occasions with a card and a thoughtful note.
Carole is survived by her sister Barbara Metzger; cousin Gerry Wieman; nieces and nephews Michael (Beulah) Metzger, Donna (Scott) Edminson, Sharon (Paul) Pitts, and Steven (Lucinda) Metzger; grandnieces and grandnephews Heather (Matthew) Wasielewski, Ashley (Kevin) Cocciemiglio, Jessica Carter, Katelyn Pitts (Austin Benedetti), Samantha Pitts, Melissa (Anthony) Angiulo, and Amanda Metzger; and several great-grandnieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother-in-law Donald Metzger, and her dear companion Fred Werner.
