Geraldine Ann Hoop

Geraldine Ann Hoop, age 89 passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. Beloved wife of the late James J. Hoop Jr.; Loving Mother of James (Johanna) Hoop III, proud grandmother of Tyler and Noah Hoop; Loving Aunt of many Nieces and Nephews.

Gerry grew up in back of the yards on Justine Street. Born on July 26, 1936 to Matthew and Mary Wisniewski. Attended St. Rose of Lima, Lourdes High School/ Class of 1954, then to Chicago Teachers College. Retired Catholic Elementary School Teacher. She taught at Mary Queen of Heaven, St. John of God, Nativity BVM, Finishing her Profession at St. Augustine.

After 24 years of teaching, she went straight to her second career at Chicago Park District's Administration Building. There she formed lasting friendships and thoroughly enjoyed her 22 years of service.

Gerry will be remembered for her compassion of helping others, her great laughter, but most importantly her gusto for life. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation for Gerry will be on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM. to 12:00 PM., with a Chapel Service at 12:00 PM., at Ridge Funeral Home, 6620 West Archer Ave, Chicago, IL 60638.
