I just heard about "Chops" tonight.
"Chops" worked for my late husband and remained a good friend to me. Every year on the anniversary of "Chat's" passing, Chops wrote on Chat's legacy, this year he did not. Now I know why.

Chops was a good friend and mentor.  I have many fond memories working with him at Hinckley years ago, but the friendship that followed was even better.  I've learned from our times at the gun range learning how to shoot properly, and even bringing my daughter Jessica there years later for her to learn from him, which she did. Once earned, Chops was one of the most respectful and caring people that I have ever known. - Beth Walker

I knew John since the early 70's.  Where I have not seen him in many, many years I will always remember him as a wonderful person who was always positive.  My condolences to the family.

Chops was a wonderful person and I'm honored to have helped him as one of his medical guides on his health journey.  Once given information for his wellness and protection, he ran with the ball as far and fast (on his treadmill) as he could.  No one had more love for family and country than John.  Even when ill, he could make others around him feel at ease.  He is and will be forever missed and lauded for the person he was.  Selma, he was one in a million, please keep all the memories close at hand for comfort, and take care, we all grieve for your (and our) loss.

Chops Was one of the smartest people I knew. Self-taught and hugely disciplined yet incredibly patient while teaching or training. I’ll hold tight to the memories -mostly the funny bits. He loved and adored Selma and my heart is with her and all of his family
