Kenneth Heinz Smock, 39, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. Born in Hinsdale, Illinois, on September 18, 1986, Ken was the beloved son of Rita (nee Naujoks) and the late David.

Early Life and Achievement

A young man of great character, Ken was a dedicated Boy Scout who achieved the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 17. His commitment to learning continued into adulthood; he graduated from the Lincoln Technical Institute in 2006 after completing his training in Electronic System Technology.

Passions and Character

Ken was a lifelong sports enthusiast with a particular passion for football. Whether he was playing the game or watching as many matchups as possible, his knowledge was unmatched. He was an expert on players and statistics, always ready to share the fine details of the game with anyone who asked. He also had a love for games of all sorts, from Resident Evil to playing Magic cards with friends.

Beyond his hobbies, Ken was defined by his resilience and his heart. Though he battled illness throughout his life, he refused to let it limit his spirit. He was a man of action and empathy—always eager to step in for someone in need, or simply to offer a steady hand and a listening ear.

Family

He is survived by his loving siblings, Stephanie and Kevin (Jacqueline nee Bosas), and was a proud and fond uncle to his nephew, Cody.

Ken was a caring and kind-hearted soul who left a lasting impact on everyone he met. He will be deeply missed.
