

Aida Ricote Lorio, 57, of San Diego, CA passed away peacefully at home after a 7 ½ year long battle with cancer, on December 1, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Patria, Pandan Philippines on November 18, 1955. Aida came to the U.S. as a young child where she grew up enjoying gallivanting around San Diego with her siblings and friends. As a graduate of Chula Vista High School, she went on to pursue college and explore what the world had to offer. On June 27, 1981, Aida married a wonderful man, Mr. Joseph A. Lorio.
Aida worked for the United States Postal Service for 25 years. After her early retirement, she devoted her time to helping raise, and spoiling her “apo” (grandkids). Aida had a passion for crossword puzzles, baking, dancing, traveling, and spending time with her loving husband, children and grandchildren. She was especially overjoyed during her many family gatherings and was proud at the closeness they all shared. Also, as a devout Catholic, she regularly attended St. Michaels Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Socorro Ricote; father, Nicomedes Ricote; and brother, Tito Ricote. She is survived by her dear husband, Joseph Lorio Sr.; “the twins” Laurie (Jason) Josafat and Lisa (Jun) Felipe; only son, Joseph Lorio Jr.; youngest daughter Joyce (Michael) Gonzales; three grandchildren Adriel Joseph “A.J.” and Dezel Felipe, Isis Josafat; Sisters Nonita Regala, Maria Fatima Briones, and Merced Simas; 16 nieces and nephews, and 21 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral arrangements will be held at 10:00 A.M. December 10, 2012 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Humphrey Mortuary on Saturday, December 8, 2012 and Sunday, December 9, 2012 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00P.M. A vigil service will take place Sunday at 5P.M.
