

He was born in National City, CA on November 11th, 1947. Alex graduated from Sweetwater High School and received a Bachelor of Business Administration, Masters of Educational Administration with a Lifetime Teaching Credential from National University.
Alex had a career in Education for 36 years, spreading his knowledge through Southwestern College, Cuyamaca College, Grossmont College, and finally retiring from Crafton Hills College as Vice President of Student Services. He also served in the United Stated Air Force as a Staff Sargent. He was a member of the San Bernardino Grand Jury, Redlands Police Department Citizens Patrol and the American Legion. Alex had a passion for family, his dogs, Keno, San Diego Chargers, music, reading, saxophone player and storytelling.
Alex was married to Jennie Contreras for 44 years. He was survived by John, Rey, Steve, Christina and Alex, Jr., his 9 grandchildren and his 9 great-grandchildren, also by his sister Norma Castillo and brother Dickie Contreras.
Funeral arrangements will be held at 10:00am, February 8th, 2018, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in National City, CA.
