Angelica Monaco Price was born March 15, 1942, to Sumo Paco (Pat) and Gaetano (Tom) Monaco, in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Angela spent her childhood surrounded by many friends and relatives in New Jersey and New York, and at the age of 10 she moved with her parents to Linda Vista, California. She attended Kit Carson Elementary School and John J Montgomery Jr. High. She attended Kearny High School, where her uncle, Dan Rufolo also taught, and during her years at Kearney, Angela was involved in many clubs and organizations including ASB and the Girls' Athletic Association. Angela was a member of Job's Daughters during these years. It was also during her teen years that Angela accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior, a conviction to which she held strongly throughout her life. Angela graduated second in her class from Kearny High School in 1959. She then attended San Diego State College, where she met the love of her life, LeRoy Price. Angela and LeRoy married on August 2, 1960 after a 5 month courtship. The young couple both worked to put themselves through college, and both graduated with degrees in elementary school teaching. Angela and LeRoy welcomed a daughter, Cathy (September 10, 1962), and two sons Lee (November 9, 1965) and Tom (July 28, 1971). Angela taught elementary school for Chula Vista Elementary School District, and then later she taught at the San Ysidro Adult School.
Angela and LeRoy raised their children in Chula Vista. Angela's pride and joy was her family. She was always a devoted and involved wife and mother, and never missed an opportunity to support her family. During the years of raising her children, Angela served as a Brownie Scout, Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader, as Job's Daughter adviser, DeMolay mom, and as a team mom for cheer squads, soccer teams, football teams and little league teams. She always responded anytime a need for help was expressed. She opened her home to numerous relatives and others who needed help. Angela's generosity was not limited to her family, as she also volunteered with her church, with Meals on Wheels, and with many community organizations. Angela and LeRoy were longtime members of Chula Vista Methodist Church and later followed her daughter's family to New Hope Church, where they have been invovled for nearly 20 years.
As the family grew, Angela welcomed her son-in-law John in 1982, and daughters-in-law Brook (married Lee) in 1988 and Roberta (married Tom) in 1994. Angela eagerly awaited the arrival of grandchildren, and was overjoyed at the arrival of each one: Jeff (1989), Aubrey (1995), Courtney (1995), Monaca (1997), Mitchell (2002), Jack (2002) and Andi (2005). Angela was always very involved in the lives of her grandchildren, and all of them will hold many happy memories of sleepovers, lunch dates, movies, and camping trips. She and LeRoy were able to take the three oldest grandchildren on cruises after they graduated from high school.
In addition to her family and her faith, another of Angela's greatest loves was traveling. During her life she traveled with her husband extensively in the United States, visiting each of the 50 states. They also traveled to many countries including Great Britain, France, Italy, Germany, Greece, Russia and Turkey. Angela encountered numerous physical challenges, being a polio survivor, but she never let these issues slow her down. Always ready for the next adventure, Angela never lost her enthusiasm, or her zeal for life. Angela touched everyone she met, and while her friends and family know that they will indeed see her again in the presence of our Lord, she will be missed dearly until the day they are reunited.
