Consuelo was a wonderful mother and wife. Cooking was a passion she was known for as well as her sewing skills. She volunteered more than ten years for St. Rose of Lima Church, preparing public school children for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. She also volunteered for VITA at the Mac Center preparing tax returns for low-income residents of San Ysidro. She was a very astute businesswoman who was frugal with family finances, which allowed the family a good life. Consuelo was a founding member of Our Lady of Guadalupe group at St. Rose of Lima and also a member of "The Golden Girls", a group of women from Calexico that would gather for each others birthdays and other celebratory occasions.
Francisco Zuniga, her husband, predeceased her as well as brothers: Oscar Medina, Manuel Medina and Cesar Roberto Medina. Predeceased sisters: Maria Teresa Carpenter, Beatrice Snow and Armida Flores. Surviving siblings are Josephina McMahon of Chula Vista and Hector Medina of Pacific Grove. Consuelo is survived by her daughters:
