
Hazel V. MacDonald, 97, of Chula Vista passed away on October 19, 2012. She was born in Oklahoma in 1915 and was married to the late Daniel T. MacDonald, Sr. She had a career with United Airlines that allowed her, Daniel Sr., and their son Daniel Jr. (Danny) to travel the world. Danny was born with Down Syndrome, and both Hazel and Daniel Sr. had a passion to help Danny and others with Down Syndrome. For many decades, they devoted themselves to GAR services, which provided residential, vocational, and educational programs for Danny and others with developmental disabilities. She was a long-time resident of Burbank and Glendale and a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Glendale, untill ill health required her to move to San Diego to be closer to her grandson Van Angleman. She is also survived by grandchildren Alan Angleman of Virginia Beach, VA, and Diane Wise of Charlottesville, VA; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Her funeral will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Glendale, 134 N. Kenwood St., Glendale, CA 91206 (818-243-2105) at 11 am on Saturday, November 17, 2012, with graveside services to follow at Forrest Lawn, Hollywood Hills.
