

Juan was born on November 19, 1927 in Agana, Guam to Enrique Matanane and Maria San Nicolas Cruz.
In 1950 Juan enlisted in the United States Army. While serving his country he did two tours of Korea and two tours of Vietnam retiring in 1974.By Gods grace he returned home and at that point he made a promise to the Lord that he would give of his time to serve Him. He went on to work at the Chula Vista school district upon retiring from the military.
Juan’s life was the epitome of “Generosity” a willingness to give of his time to others. He was a true reflection of Christ’s love and kindness.
Consequently as a result he gave selflessly to these organizations:
Commodities food program,The Share Program, Knights of Columbus, Good Neighbor Food bank, St. Vincent de Paul, Meals on Wheels, Senior Citizens Patrol, Senior Nutrition program and worked tirelessly for St. Charles Parish.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Celestina I., and daughters,
Mary “Gennie” Kirbey (Dwight),
Theresa Ryan (Tom) and grandson, Sean Ryan, who is following in his papa’s footsteps serving in the United States Army.
