Mom was born in Coos Bay, Oregon on May 5, 1917. She married her partner in life of 60 years, Bob, in Portland, Oregon on June 11, 1939. Following WW II, they moved to Southern California, landing, finally, in Bakersfield, where Dad began his medical practice and Mom settled into the really tough job of raising four children, maintaining a home for the family, and finding time for various community activities, including Woman’s Auxiliary to the Kern County Medical Society, Woman’s Club of Bakersfield, Children’s Home Society and the Republican Party. Mom, particularly, enjoyed organizing family vacations, which later evolved into a passion for travel. She and Dad, literally, traveled the world both before and following his retirement.
In 1974, with children launched into their careers and, each, with their own spouses, they moved to Coronado, CA. and full time retirement. Throughout the following years, and after Dad passed away in 2000, Mom has remained active in Coronado Republican Women’s Club and the Coronado Community Church. She also enjoyed hosting young aspiring actors and actresses performing at the Lamb’s Players Theater. Yet, aside from all her contributions to her communities and travels, Mom always felt her greatest contribution was raising four great children (her words, not mine!!).
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert, and son, Timothy. She was survived by daughter, Judy, and son in law, Corey; daughter in law, Ann; son, Patrick, and daughter in law, Chris; daughter, Debi and son in law, John; granddaughters, Kate and Ashley; and grandsons, Brandon and Rob.
