

Mary Lucy Mancini, age 97 passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024. Mary was born in Buffalo, New York. She is the daughter of Frank and Florence Mancini of Santa Croce di Magliano, Italy, and older sister to Jean Adamo (Mancini). She is survived by her nephew and his family.
Mary graduated from the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Buffalo, and continued her education at the Buffalo State Teaching College and the University of the State of New York. Along with her parents and sister, Mary made the cross country trip to San Diego, California in the early 50's. Mary worked as a librarian for over thirty years, serving as librarian for the cities of Alhambra, Chula Vista, and National City. Mary spent the majority of her career working for the City of Chula Vista Public Library, as the Head of Public Services and eventually Assistant Director. Mary enjoyed her retirement years as a world traveler, patron of the arts, and volunteer. Mary's travels included cruises with family to the Caribbean, Baja California, the Alaskan coastline, and the Hawaiian islands. Alongside her sister and other traveling friends, Mary's other adventures included river cruises in eastern Europe, tours to Israel, Egypt, Spain, Italy, France, Japan, and Australia, and numerous trips to destinations across the U.S. Mary volunteered for several organizations and groups within her parish, including the 5-S Cub, Italian Catholic Federation, and Social Outreach program. She spent her final years at the Pacifica Bonita Senior Living facility, taking part in a number of community activities.
A memorial gathering for Mary will be held Monday, April 15, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel - 753 Broadway, Chula Vista.
The funeral service will occur Tuesday, April 16, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Rose of Lima Church - 293 H St.,Chula Vista.
The graveside committal service will occur Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 11:30 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery - 4470 Hilltop Dr., San Diego.
