

Mercedes Catano, 79 years of age, of Chula Visa, passed away on August 14, 2014. Mercedes was born in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico to Silvestre and Maria Valtierra. Mercedes married Roberto Catano on January 13,1951. They were blessed with seven children and a long marriage of 63 years.
Mercedes had a career working as a seamstress in the garment industry, Ratner Clothing. Her true passion however, was taking care of her family and later caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed the local casinos, designing floral arrangements and cake decorating.
Mercedes is survived by her husband, Roberto Catano, her seven children; Jesus Robert Catano, Mercedes Valdivia, Martha Dorado, Marisela Beas, Graciela Villalpando, Patricia Lenox, and Yvette Muñoz. Her legacy includes seventeen grandchildren, Robert Catano, Brenda Catano, Kristy Catano, Steven Catano, Marisela Beas, Jeanette Beas, Amanda Lenox, Christopher Lenox, Angelica Hernandez, Monica Bornal, Erika Dorado, Briana Dorado, Melissa Villalpando, Paul Villalpando, Andrew Villalpando, Carolina Munoz, Yvette Munoz and nine great-grandchildren, Alexis Catano, Robert Catano, Alyssa Hernandez, Ariana Hernandez, Sofie Hernandez, Sergio Sandoval, Anthony Sandoval, Dahlia Beas, Illiana Villalpando.
Mercedes' life will be celebrated with a visitation at Funeraria Del Angel Humphrey, 753 Broadway, Chula Vista, California 91910, on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a vigil prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
A catholic mass will be given in her honor at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 345 Anita Street, Chula Vista, California, 91911, on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Eternal resting place will be at Glen Abbey Memorial Park located at 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, California, 91902.
