

Modesto Mendes Ybarra, born in Morenci, Arizona on February 24, 1932, raised in Aguascalientes, Mexico and a resident of San Diego, died peacefully in his home in Chula Vista on Wednesday, June 19, 2019. He was 87 years old. He is survived by his wife Celerina Ybarra and daughter, Rocelle Bitangcol as well as by many nieces and nephews.
Modesto worked for Solar for approximately 40 years as a sheet metal mechanic. He is also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Modesto was the youngest sibling of 12 children. He was especially close to his sisters and even helped care for them in their later years. He was the last to be born and the last to pass away.
Modesto, or “Daddy” as he is affectionately known by loved ones, was best known for his sense of humor and his quick wit. His love for solving the Jumble Puzzle was not only because it was entertaining but also because he loved the challenge. He will be greatly missed.
A service and viewing for Modesto will take place on Monday, July 1st @ 5p at Funeraria del Angel located at 753 Broadway, Chula Vista, 91910. There will also be a short service and final goodbyes said at Funeraria Del Angel @ 10a July 2nd with burial to follow @ Glen Abbey, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA 91902.
