It was a sad but beautiful day yesterday laying Ninang Norma to rest, and always wonderful to see the Valdez family and how much it has grown. I found some old photos —heartwarming reminders of the forever friendship that my mom Greta, dad Rene, Ninong Romy, and Ninang Norma have. Our prayers and love go out to Ninong, Dennis, Ronald, Norman, and everyone in the fam. She is always with you, and we’re always here for you because you’re family to us. 

My prayers go out to the family during this time.  Norma was assigned as the Team Lead of our work code, but we thought of her as our Mother of the code and a true friend.  She called a lot of us "Partner".  So naturally, when she called out "Hey, Partner", we all answered, then she would say "No, no not you Partner, the other Partner".  We all started laughing.  Norma was so supportive and always had a happy spirit.  She was truly a blessing to me and will forever be in my memory.  

My deepest condolences to the Valdez Family. Ms Normita what a wonderful and beautiful person you were. I always remember when you first met my son you thought that he was so handsome and you used to call him your (Novio) boyfriend. I will always remember your laugh and your humility towards others. To  Norma's husband, Norman, and rest of her family, my deep condolences. I was stunned to learn of her passing.  While I didn't have much contact with her at work, each time was an "event"--laughter/joy and energy!  When I went upstairs to wish her a happy retirement on her last day at work, she was gone--that was the Norma I remember--fast moving, on the go!  I was glad to be able to talk to her afterward. Our last get-together was a memorable one for me, we were both in tears as we say our goodbyes. I would have hugged you tighter and longer had I known that it was our last farewell. 

While it is hard, we  take refuge knowing that you are up in heaven looking over us. It is not goodbye, but rather, until we meet again Mama Norma. I miss you. I love you. Rest in peace.

I met Norma when we both looking for a new  home-and picked the same model. We became neighbors. best friends, travel buddies confidant  and second mother of my children.

Norma was a beautiful person inside and out; always bubbly, full of life, with a contagious laugh that would always bring smiles. My sincere condolences to the family.  May God give you the peace and comfort through this difficult time. I was deeply saddened to hear the passing of our dear Norma.  She was a beautiful person inside and out. She was an amazing friend with a heart of gold. I will always cherish our memories going back to 1995 when I met her at PWC HRO. I always admired her . She will be missed by all. Rest in paradise Normita, until we meet again. 

Norma was my next door neighbor for 29 years. From the very beginning she invited my family to her and Romy’s many celebrations . She was so fun-loving and injected an energy and joy into  every room she entered.. She was an attentive, gracious host.Nothing got by Norma. We were sneaking out at one party, to avoid being asked to perform  at Karaoke. She insisted we stay and identify a song we could perform. My husband said Moon River thinking it unlikely that it would be in their library. Time passed and following a rigorous attempt, they located it.. Norma and her girlfriends joined in with Richard singing the most soulful rendition ever. Many a time Norma and I would have an exchange at the mailbox or over the back fence . We had in common that we were both mom’s of boys, which was often the topic of our talks .”Our talks always ended in laughter.I so loved her laugh. I felt a comfort in knowing Norma was close by and would have a wise, level -headed  approach to problems that arose with our HOA. Near the end I was struck by her bravery, her continued optimism and her laser focus on spending as much time with her loved ones as God had in his plan. I will miss her greatly.

A memory that I had with Mama Norma is when she came came to my birthday dinners and parties to support me through my life on earth. She is always the first one to show up that’s how much she cared because I knew she loved me very much and I will never forget about my God mother’s laughter we had together and to love her because I know she’s watching over us. I will always remember that sweet aroma smell you always put on.

Norma was my work mom. She took care of me both professionally and personally, always making sure I was ok (and fed). She had a knack for bringing people together and lifting our spirits when faced with adversity. She radiated positivity, and her laugh was infectious. Her compassion was genuine, and her selflessness, unmatched. Thank you for everything that you have done for me. I’m grateful to have had you in my life. I love you, “mom”. Until we meet again.

What a great, strong, brave woman; my hero. Your strength gave me strength for so many years. I love you now and beyond and will miss you on this Earth until we meet again my friend.

Norma was one of a kind and a beautiful person inside and out whom I admired and looked up to. Norma always took the time to ensure we were all taken care of both professionally and personally. She had a special way of lifting our energy and spirits up whenever we felt down. Norma touched so many lives with her fun personality, and was everyone’s “Auntie” at work. Norma had a way of seeing the bright side of things and was often laughing which always brightened up the workplace. She was always willing to help show you how to do something, and she wasn’t shy about correcting you. I was blessed to work with her, learn from her, and laugh with her. She was an amazing woman. ❤️ My heart goes out to her family during this time. 

Ever since our children, Dennis and Rosalynn, got together following the existence of our grandchildren, we have known one another in a very close friendly and family life relationship.  We appreciate you and abalayan Romeo being closer to our children’s family especially in taking care of our grandchildren during school days and sports activities.  We always have a good time laughing, eating, and enjoying the family when we get together at family gatherings and special celebrations. Words cannot express how heartbroken I am to have heard the news of Norma’s passing.  Norma is one of the kindest, caring, loving, bubbly, full of life and beautiful souls that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing for the past several years.  I had the privilege of working alongside Norma for 3 years and I could not have asked for a better Team Lead.  She took such great care of me and the team not only as a true leader, but as a motherly figure to the employees, great mentor and friend. She was absolutely the best! Even during the most challenging times, she always found a way to keep things going and make all of us laugh with her cheerfulness and love of life.  I don’t know how I would have survived without her and for that I will always be grateful and miss her dearly!   
To the family, I know that words cannot express the void you must feel in your lives during this difficult time.  Please know what a special person Norma is and the blessing she was to so many of us.   I am honored and blessed to have known her and may her beautiful soul rest in peace. Norma has been my neighbor for the past 29 years!  She was an incredible woman, friend and neighbor!  She always had a smile on her face. She took care of what needed to be taken care of in our neighborhood.  Our neighborhood will never be the same and she will truly be missed!! My deepest condolences to the family. My dear Normita, you are my forever friend, my Misis. 
No words can explain how I feel right now, now that you are no longer around your family and around everyone who loves you.  You are not here for me to call or text so we can complain, laugh and giggle about everything happening in our lives….like the crazy things our children are doing or how our husbands drive us crazy.  We have been friends forever.  Our boys went to the same elementary school in Oxnard and they got into a lot of trouble together just like normal little boys.  Both of my children chose you to be their Ninang at their weddings.  You are not only my forever friend but also a forever Ninang to Barbara and Ricky. 
Misis, you are so courageous and brave.  You tried so hard to battle your illness with smiles inspite of all of your pain.  So many times you would text me that you can’t take it anymore and that you prayed to God to take you rather than have your family see you in pain.  We all prayed for miracles, for God to give you more strength to tolerate the pain so you can be with your family a little longer. 
I am so grateful I was able to be with you in your last days to talk with you and give you a big hug.  We talked and giggled on your bed.  Before I left you squeezed my hand so tight and you didn’t let go.  I will forever treasure that moment with you, just me and you, me and my Misis.

This is an unexpected and very sad news for me.  The last time I saw her was in December 2021 when I dropped off some siopao, and she shared some of her juicy lemon fruits from her backyard.  I asked her how she's doing? She said she was cleared.  She was so happy and gladly it was gone!   Then between end of January and early February I heard she was in the ER  and will undergo a surgery!  I called and texted her but no response.  I  kept praying for her speedy and successful surgery.  Then this news came!   

I know she is walking now with our Almighty God and happy! Just wanted to say thank you my benevolent friend for more than 20 years,  You showed me your positive ways how to live a happy life.  You are one comedian that put everyone in the carpool group on alert by your various jokes. You are thoughtful, loving, caring, understanding, helpful friend, and coworker. You were the most thoughtful, loving, caring grandma. We are so lucky to have had such a hands-on and caring grandma. Thank you for coming to all of my basketball games and ceremonies. We all are saddened that you are no longer with us here on earth. Violet, Rose and I are broken.You were a person who lived life to the fullest.You were so transparent in all your dealings with us.You had dined, danced and had told the funniest stories of the times when we were at VanPool in your Terra Nova parking. Almost 2 decades that we had known each other. Everytime I came back from Honolulu, I dropped your favorite Macadamia nuts candies. You were a mother figure to the young incumbent employees at OCHR SW.A top notch Recruiter in the field who never was selfish to share your knowledge.In 2021, you celebrated your last birthday with us at Cheesecake Factory.We had that best of time with you and your antics.You came to my birthday in October 2021.We even invited you for our Christmas party but you said the family had planned your 48 years of Wed Anniversary.You and Romy were so close that “Soulmates” is a special word.We knew that you were in & out of Balboa hospital and had visited you.Never in a million years that we dreamt that you were not okay. I called you several times and no answer.Rose tried and was successful just recently and was able to say her goodbye to you.We tried to see you but out of respect to Romy and your family we did not!On April 4, 2022 a news about your passing came to us. We called each other and cried. You became the center of all our griefs.The OCHR SW family became a unified family because of you.We will respect your last words: “Just accept everyone as a friend” You wanted our Get Together to be with our husbands as they are our solace.Indeed we shall be your colleague and friend Forever.You are a sister I don’t have here in San Diego.We will miss you but in our hearts and minds shall linger the everlasting Camaraderie we had. I love you as my biological Sister.May our Creator give you eternal salvation, the light that will definitely shine on you in Eternity. Manang Norma was full of love and joy. It showed the way she treated and took care of us, her work family. 

At work we knew it was lunch time when you hear Manang Norma say, “Vazkwezzz let’s eat!” Calling for Rosanna.  She and the other Aunties took turns  bringing lunch to share everyday. Sometimes she would call me to join them or she will make me a plate and bring it to my desk (I was her favorite 😉). On D’Sotto’s days she and the Aunties went for lunch runs and she or Rosanna would call the orders in and pick them up. 

We knew it was 3:01 when you hear Manang Norma say “Vazkwezzz let’s go!” and off we hear their loud laughter fade with no sign of stress from her. 

Manang Norma was very successful at work she got things done and managed to have time for her family that she loved dearly, friends and time for herself. She had a strong work/life balance.  No doubt she possessed characteristics of a Proverbs 31 woman. 

I’ve known Manang  Norma for 21 years. I am one of the many fortunate ones she helped become a processor and staffer but not quite equal to her DCPDS skills. 

I am so blessed to know her and be called “my Ading” by her.  I love and miss you Manang ko!

My heart broke when I heard of Norma’s passing. Norma was a kind, honest, cheerful, helpful, funny, resourceful, happy, lovable, and a beautiful human being. Her laughter was contagious and always brought the sunshine to an otherwise gloomy day. May the Perpetual Light shine upon Norma and May She Rest In Peace. May the beautiful memories of our beloved Norma comfort her family and friends. She was a blessing to many and I am certain that we are all grateful to God for the 69 years of sweet memories of our beloved Norma. Funny. She visited my mom and since then she coined her “Virgin Mary”. So that same time she held my hand, she asked in her great deep voice: “how is my Virgin Mary”? We laughed. ” Love and light to all of your family, Norma.

My favorite memory of mama Norma was that she always knew how to make family gatherings so fun and memorable. With her loud and care free spirit, she was able to make everyone smile. And when leilana was born, I loved to hear that she would always save photos and videos of leilana. 

Normita loved her family and her friends. When I remember you, its how you loved to laugh and dance that will make me smile. Your spirit and your light will continue to be with us because we will always love you. Comadrita RIP.  Romeo and family praying that God may give you comfort and strength.

I wish I had the right words, just know you will be missed a lot. A life so beautifully lived deserved to be beautifully remembered forever. Thank you Norma for being a good, kind and true friend. You left a trail of beautiful memories. Remembering how you squeezed and kissed my hand for the last time will stay in my heart. You will be missed my fren. You are now at peace with our Creator. It may take a day to find a special friend, a month to cherish that friendship but it takes forever to forget a true friend like you Norma.

Romy and family, I’m sharing in your sadness as you remember  Norma.

Norma was one of the most loving,  giving human beings I’ve ever met.  She was instantaneously your friend.  She loved to laugh and loved to make people laugh.  We carpooled together for 9 years and we laughed to and from work every single day! I remember Norma being THE DCPDS guru and could figure out any and all issues with the system. Sometimes she would have people lined up at her desk waiting for her help, and as always she would drop whatever she was doing to help. I’m so proud to say I was part of her work family.

It’s soo hard when the brightest star in the sky is gone, but I’m so glad you’re at peace and with god.  Missy-Poo, until we meet again I love you.

From the day I walked into OCHR, Norma welcomed me with open arms.  We didn’t know each other but instantly there was that motherly bond of her wanting to take care of you.  She taught me so much of the government HR world, introduced me to all the yummy Philippino food; and was never without a smile.  She had a charm to her which was contagious.  She truly loved life, her friends were here family, and oh she loved her family with all she had.  
To say we’ll miss you in and understatement.  Thank you for all of the memories, Normita.  ❤️

Hi bff,  can’t stop thinking of you. It hurts.  But I know you’re in a better place now and not hurting anymore. I love you and will miss you so much specially our craziness  together, our jokes and laughter. Furthermore, our dance in the hall way, calling  my name aloud to go to the break room and walking to lunch together.  Just like what they say in the office,  we were both crazy. I have known Norma since the late 80s/early nineties. I knew then she was an incredibly good person and at that moment asked her to be the godmother of my daughter, Catherine.  She was intelligent, kind, compassionate, caring and most of all funny. Her persona radiates to everyone who come to know her. During lunch break, we normally occupy two tables, share food and laughter. It was always happy moments with her. Missing my dearest friend. May your beautiful soul rest in peace. Love you. 

I can no longer see you with my eyes or touch you with hands, but I will feel you in my heart forever. 

It saddens my heart to find out I have lost my friend. I will always remember the fun and stressful times we had working together and the great times outside of work. Norma was comical and could be guaranteed to say something to have people cracking up. She will be missed.  Norman to you and your family I send my love and condolences. She may no longer be present with us but she is present  with the Lord.
