Soledad was born on May 6, 1929 in Papantla, Veracruz Mexico.
Soledad resided in the cities of Poza Rica, Veracruz Mexico, McAllen, Texas and San Jose, California. She settled in San Jose, California for most of her life.
In the early 1950’s she migrated to the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas where she worked as a migrant farmworker. Mom shared with us that she was tired of the constant moving following the crops from state to state. So in the late 1950’s she moved to San Jose, California where she could live in a house and make it her home. In San Jose she continued to raise her family and worked in the canneries for many years before going to work in the electronic industry. After retiring Mom moved back to McAllen, Texas.
She shared with all she loved her exceptional cooking skills, her faith and most of all sharing the word of Jesus Christ to all who listened. Mom was a beautiful woman with a kind heart and gentle nature. Mom enjoyed driving her 1966 Chevy Impala, traveling and visiting with family in Mexico, the States and abroad. She was a world-wide traveler visiting as far as China. She never stayed in one place too long and always left a memorable lasting impression as a very strong independent, charismatic and humorous woman.
Soledad Castillo Escobedo was a wonderful, beautiful and loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Amiga who was loved deeply by all who were blessed to know her. Mom’s courageous battle with all that ailed her ended peacefully on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at the age of 86 with her loving family at her side in San Diego, California.
She is survived by her Sons and Daughters; Raymundo, Gloria, Idi (predeceased), Socorro, Carmen, Eduardo, Antonio (predeceased), Gabriel, Herlinda (Linda), Jacob, and Dina. Her loving Grandchildren and her Great Grandchildren. Her Nieces, Nephews, La Familia Gonzales of McAllen, Texas and her extended Familia in Poza Rica, Veracruz, Mexico.
Mom was a true blessing in all of our lives and will forever be in our hearts. Descanse in Paz Mama (Rest in Peace Mother.)
