Charles “Ed” Sanchez, 85, a long time resident of Roseville, CA passed away Monday, April 20, 2015, at Renown Hospital in Reno, NV after a long and courageous battle with diabetes.
Ed was born September 11, 1929, in Santa Maria, CA. He was one of two children born to Charles and Gertrude Sanchez. Charles grew up and attended school in Santa Maria, CA. In 1944, Ed joined the Coast Guard. Upon leaving the Coast Guard he joined the Army, serving in the Korean War and was discharged in 1952. In 1957, he married the love of his life, Lois, and eventually moved to Oxnard, CA where they raised their family. While living in Oxnard Ed worked in the trucking business for 35 years. He was also involved in Oxnard Chamber of Commerce and was an avid bowler.
In June of 1980, Ed and Lois moved to Roseville, CA where he and Lois opened and owned the Sunset Liquor Store for several years. He was also an excellent cook owning a barbeque business and catered many barbeques in the Roseville area.
Ed is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lois, of 50 years, who died in 2007, and his parents Charles and Gertrude Sanchez. Loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle, Ed is survived by his three children, daughter, Susan Sanchez Perez, son Mike (Terri), and daughter Lisa Phipps (Bill) , 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a sister Jackie Jones, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Pete and Karen Jordan, sister-in-law Fern Sills, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and the many friends that touched his life.
The funeral services for Ed are on May 16, 2015, at 1:00, at Reichert’s Funeral Home, 7320 Auburn Blvd., Citrus Heights, CA. Burial will be in the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, CA.
