(LYNCH)
July 13, 1953 - August 1, 2012
Elizabeth, “BETH” to family and friends (and in reality that was everyone she met) courageously and bravely fought a battle with cancer for over the past 6+ years. Beth reluctantly passed away comfortably in her Sacramento home on August 1, 2012 with her son Bryan and family by her side. Beth waged an uphill battle against cancer creating “Merrill’s Marauders”, her own combat unit that provided strong and positive support all through the numerous battles she encountered. As it was with her nature she did not give in or give up and fought until she could no longer. Beth never lost her positive attitude about life and all through her ordeal she maintained a big smile on her face and firmly believed she would defeat the horrible cancer she had.
Beth, a native Californian was born in Fresno and spent most of her childhood as well as adult life in the Sacramento County area, living the cities of Rancho Cordova, Folsom, Arden Park, and River Park. After joining with her “Robbie” she established her dream home in Truckee Ca., where she spent most of her time working on bird houses and different hobbies. On July 4, 1997 Beth and Robin were married at Rainbow Lodge in the Sierra Mountains.
Beth is survived by her father, William Eugene Lynch Sr., her son Bryan David Hipley, sister Mary and brothers William (Bill) Jr., Charlie (Chuck), Christopher (Chris), and Walter. She was preceded in passing by her mother Dorothy, her brother Dan, and most recently on June 27, 2012 her brother John.
In 1981 Beth enrolled into the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Academy and started her career as a Police Officer working as an on call Deputy Sheriff. In 1982 she was hired as a Police Officer with the University of California Police Department in Davis, California and her law enforcement career blossomed. Beth worked all aspects of field operations and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant specializing in Crime Prevention and Patrol operations. Retiring in 2001 she enjoyed a solid 20 year law enforcement career. Beth and Robin met in 1984 working together on the UC Police Department. Not always seeing eye to eye on issues they developed a strong, but removed friendship. She referred to him as “MERRILL” and thought him an arrogant and interesting guy………stating later that she wished she was married to a guy like that.
In 1996 Beth and Robin became good friends and began not only working together, but sharing time away from work as well. They became, Best Friends, Soul Mates, and Committed to each other in Unconditional Love….9 * 12 * 21… She finally got her wish.
Elizabeth, “BETH” will definitely be missed and a void will be forever there for all who knew her. She was a true care giver, a friend to most everyone, with a warm friendly and most often funny personality, there was no task or job that could not be done, she had a willingness to do anything for anybody, asked or not. She followed in her mother’s footsteps and cared about everyone else’s problems before she thought of herself.
