
Helen was born September 25, 1913, in Chicago, Illinois. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas John Cannon; the loving mother of Lawrence (Theresa) of Roseville, CA, and Marjorie (Hugh Moore) of Portland, OR, and the late Thomas Joseph Cannon; the dearest grandmother of Julia, Lauren, Zachary; and the fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Helen was a dear sister-in-law to Jack Lynch and Mary Jane Karlovitz; she was predeceased by her parents, Rose and John Karlovitz; two brothers, John and Bill Karlovitz; and five sisters, Ann and Eleanor Karlovitz, Mary Einecker, Frances Davies and Emily Hoy.
Helen was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren, who delighted in her willingness to be a playmate with them in their children's games. She took great pride in all of their accomplishments – they were truly the light of her life in her later years. She was a kind, caring friend to many and enjoyed traveling, folk dancing, needle point and remained well informed about current events. Helen was greatly appreciated by her family and friends for her excellent cooking and baking in the Austrian tradition. She performed thousands of hours of volunteer work at the Mission Oaks Senior Center over a twenty five year period. Her volunteer services were recognized in 1997 when the Mission Oaks Park District awarded her the Outstanding District Volunteer of the Year award. Doing this work over many years gave meaning to her life and provided the opportunity for many lasting friendships. She is remembered with great fondness by all those who knew her.
