In loving memory of Ivy Sigler, who passed away on October 22,2016, at the age of 90. Ivy was born on October 29, 1925 to Connie Bagby and Blanche Bledsoe. She had two brothers, James Robert and Gerald Eugene who preceded her in death.
In her preteen years Ivy met a handsome youth, Al, who accidentally ran into her on his bicycle. But it was not a tragedy, they actually became fast friends and he was the love of her life. Alvin Lee Sigler and Ivalah Bagby were wed just before graduation from Central High school of Kansas City. Their lasting love and friendship carried them trough 20 years of military service moves to 2 foreign countries, 10 different states and 31 cities until their retirement in Sacramento. They were together "come hell or high water" for 52 years before Al's death in 1993. In her day, Ivy was considered a "housewife" as she did not hold paying job for most of her life, but she was so much more. Ivy was always a "go getter" who also gave back to life as much as was given. As a member of the Officer's Wives Club she usually held a committee position as well as secretary or president. Ivy was a Sunday school teacher and belonged to base Chapel Wives Club. During the years her children were growing up, Ivy worked with the PTA as secretary and president and was both a Cub Scout leader and Girl Scout troop leader. A very competitive spirit, Ivy had a love of games and sports. For years she played Bridge and she bowled in woman's leagues; she and Al bowled together on couples teams as well. When Ivy When Ivy and Al retired in Sacramento they took up golf to embrace the California lifestyle. Ivy became an avid golfer and joined the Mather Woman's Golf Club where she captained 3 times. It was her cherished friendships that she established through golf that helped her through the loss of her dearest Al and gave her physical and mental well being that carried her years past the development of emphazema. It was, most of all, Ivy's ability to always "make the best" of any situation that created a strong family who could live anywhere and love it. Ivy's loving memory will always be treasured by her son Gary Sigler, and daughter Linda Zerr, granddaughter Haley (Jon Rodgers) grandson Brett and great- grandson's Liam and Colin.
