Born January 28, 1929 in Oakland, CA Marilyn passed away unexpectedly May 23,2011 at her home in Colfax. A graduate of San Luis Obispo H.S. and Jr. College, she also graduated from San Jose State with a Bachelor’s degree and began her teaching career. She taught 2nd and 3rd graders for 12 years in San Luis Obispo. She met her husband to be, Lenard Taylor and they married in Ojai, CA in 1963. They relocated to Colfax in 1966 where Marilyn substituted until she got a job teaching special ed. She later worked at the Placer County Office of Education until retiring after 32 years of service. Marilyn was a long time parishioner of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Auburn, an amateur ham radio operator and active member since 1982 in the radio club Mission Trail Net. Together Marilyn and Lenard traveled throughout the states in their travel trailer searching out remote camping and fishing spots. They also enjoyed trips to Alaska, a special trip to Israel and visiting many countries throughout Europe. Marilyn will be remembered as a gracious, positive woman always concerned for others. She was much loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Marilyn is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 48 years, Lenard Taylor, step sons Charles (Marge) and Robert Taylor, grandchildren Laurel Ann and Ian Taylor, sister Verna Perier (Doyle Dortch), sisters-in-law Gail (Richard) Hansen and Evelyn (Oscar) Wallace and was preceded in death by her sister Betty Ahrendes. Friends are invited to a funeral service on Tuesday, May 31st at 10:00 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 275 Nation Dr., Auburn followed with burial at Colfax Cemetery at 2 pm.
