After graduation, he began his work in manufacturing plant maintenance, eventually becoming a Journeyman Millwright. In later years, he obtained his Mechanical Contractor's License. He was very active in the Indiana Jaycees for several years holding several State offices.
In 1988 he relocated to Sacramento, California, where his youngest brother Chris lived. Two weeks after his relocation he me his soon to be wife Gwynn, at a Parents Without Partners dance. He called her the next evening saying he had "A Hankering to See Her"! She invited him to dinner and the rest is "History" as they say. They married in September 1989 at Faith Lutheran CHurch, Fair Oaks, CA.
Mark was an avid hunter and fisherman. He and Gwynn were very involved in the Christian Campers Club for over 30 years, where they served as President for about 8 years, making many lifelong friends. He was often mentioned as the guy that "never met a stranger". He served as an Elder and on the Property Committee at Faith Lutheran Church for several years.
After retirement Mark and Gwynn enjoyed traveling in their class A motorhome, going across country to visit family in the Midwest 4 times in 6 years. They also followed dear friends, Curt and Vera Jones, to Yuma, Arizona where they were "snow birds" for 8 years loving every minute of it. In later years Mark enjoyed breakfast most mornings, at what his wife called the "70's diners". He met his dear friend Marty Weeks at one of these diners and they met for breakfast most mornings for nearly 20 years "dreaming and scheming". He enjoyed life, he loved his family and friends, his church and always had a smile and a positive outlook.
