December 24, 1931 – July 25, 2022
Jacqueline Look passed away peacefully on Monday, July 25, 2022 at her residence in San Francisco, California at the age of 90. She was born Yok Ho to parents Bow Ho and Anna Wong Ho and spent her early years with brothers Howard, Warren, Poy, Wing, Lam and Lo and sisters Mary, Dorothy and Grace growing up together in San Francisco’s Chinatown. Jackie attended Commodore Stockton elementary school and later, John Hancock. Being the youngest of ten children, she learned at an early age what it was like being part of a large family, helping out with cooking, cleaning, taking care of pets and any other chores that were needed.
After graduating from Polytechnic High School in 1950, Jackie worked for Pacific Telephone & Telegraph and later as a secretary and stenographer at Dames and Moore, a civil engineering company.
In 1951, at the age of 19, Jackie married her high school sweetheart George. They would go on to live a full and happy life together for over 70 years in San Francisco, together raising a family of five children: Garrand, Bryon, Arvin, Cheryl and Daryl. George was also from a large family and together with Jackie they shared many cherished memories of holiday parties, picnics and other celebrations with their children, grandchildren and with the extended family.
Some of Jackie’s pastimes included cooking, taking drives around the City to the park or beach, attending Broadway performances and vacationing in Hawaii, but also browsing the web and exchanging email and text messages with relatives and friends. She and George especially enjoyed their neighborhood walks together in the Richmond District, often walking to Clement Street for coffee or breakfast at places such as Schubert’s Bakery or Cherry Blossom, or simply relaxing together on their front porch as neighbors would walk past, waving or stopping to say hello. Jackie and George also spent years volunteering at the Salvation Army’s senior center along with close friends and family members, helping with food distribution and participating in special events and trips for the seniors.
Above all, Jackie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She especially enjoyed getting together with her family for the birthday celebrations, as well as all the graduations, weddings and baby parties. Jackie leaves behind four sons: Garrand, Bryon, Arvin and Daryl, ten grandchildren: Jennifer, Stephanie, Alyssa, Nicole, Ellyse, Michael, Daniel, Michelle, Brittany and Cameron, and four great-grandchildren: Shawn, Brooklyn, Grayson and Jace. Jackie will forever be remembered for her love, devotion, kindness and generosity. The Look family would like to thank Jackie’s extended family and friends for their love and support.
