

Joe Yuen Wong passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, at the age of 94. He was born on May 17, 1931 in the Toisan village of Guangdong province, China, where he was raised until he immigrated to the United States in 1947. After graduating from high school, Joe was drafted and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following an honorable discharge, he began his lifelong career in the restaurant business. Along the way, he married his wife, Nina, and settled in the city of Fairfield.
Joe lived a long and fulfilling life marked by deep family devotion, a steadfast work ethic, and an enduring passion for food and hospitality. He was known for his warm smile, unwavering support for those he loved and the meals he prepared for large family gatherings.
He took great joy in cooking for others as those hearty and flavorful meals brought family and friends together around the kitchen table. His home was a place of warmth and comfort where loved ones gathered to eat, share stories, laugh, and forge deeper connections.
Joe cherished his role as a husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his two sons, Benny and Tony, and their respective families. The five grandchildren and extended family members will forever carry forward the values of kindness, loyalty and generosity that he embodied.
His legacy of quiet dignity, family-centered living, and the art of feeding those he loved will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.
