Arlene Mercer Morris

Arlene Morris, 95, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Mitchell County Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. , Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Colorado City,TX. Dr. Jerry Shields will be officiating the service. Graveside service will follow at Colorado City Cemetery.

Arlene was born February 3, 1916 in Talpa, Texas to parents Gordon L. and Dona Ethel Morris. He came to Colorado City area in 1929. Arlene married Catharine Delaney on October 4, 1941 in Colorado City,TX. Arlene then served in United States Navy during World War II. He then came home and worked for United States Postal Service, where he became Postmaster in 1959 . Arlene was a member and a deacon of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include sons: Dale Morris of Abilene, TX and Bill Morris and wife SarahLee of Lubbock,TX. And many friends.

Arlene was preceded in death by his wife Catharine, parents: Gordon and Dona Morris, one Brother: L.C. , and Sister: Ethel Mae Bassham.

Pallbearers and Honorary pallbearers will be deacons on the First Baptist Church of Colorado City.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
