He was born on August 9, 1938 in White Oak, North Carolina to Claude and Lynda Franks Marcom.
Buddy was a hard-working Christian man who loved his God and loved his family with all that he had. He was gifted with the gifts of gab and wit, which helped him to keep smiling throughout the years and made it so that he never met a stranger. He worked his life as a Co-op electric lineman and always had plenty of stories to tell about work. His children considered him one of the best dads ever, always making sure to be there for them, especially when it came to teaching them handyman skills and about baseball which was his favorite pastime. In his spare time he loved to pick with people as long as they would pick back at him, he was great at telling jokes and pulling the perfect prank. He was an avid Rangers and Cowboys fan, loved to fish, as well as going out to have coffee with his buddies at the DQ. His kind natured spirit and his big smile will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, and the lessons he taught will be passed down for generations to come.
Buddy is survived by his sons; Steve Marcom (Kathy) of Midland, Alan Marcom (Leslie) of Lubbock, Mike Marcom (Rache) of Midland, and by a daughter Anne Marcom (Carol) of Dallas, and by a step-daughter Brigette Schlabach (Kyle) of Lewisville, as well as by grandchildren Kandace, Kelsey, Misty, Riley, Brayden, Mackenzie, Addysen, Logan, Harper, Jillian, Jonathan, Autumn, Stanley, Courtney and Jared, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. He was also survived by brothers James “Jimmy” Marcom (Joyce) and C.J. “Julian” Marcom both of Raleigh, N.C. and a sister Frances “Fran” Maynard of Marietta, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Lynda Marcom, and by his wives Faye, Lena, and Glenda.
A graveside memorial for Buddy will be held in the Colorado City Cemetery on Saturday, January 29th at 2 pm with Doctor Jerry Shields officiating.
If there was anything Buddy could say to you today he would first say that he loved you, then tell you not to cry because he is gone, rather laugh because he was here.
