

Colorado City – Mr. Frank Brownfield, age 81, of Colorado City, died Saturday morning after a sudden illness in a local hospital. Services will be at 10 AM Tuesday. March 27, 2012 in the First United Methodist Church in Colorado City. Burial will follow in the Colorado City Cemetery under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Brownfield was born December, 10, 1930 in Snyder, TX to Maurice and Ruby Stokes Brownfield. He had a Master’s Degree in agriculture from Texas Tech and began his Ag Teaching career in Blackwell, TX in 1953. He and Dovie moved to Colorado City in 1967 where he taught for another 20 years.
Frank married Mary Dovie Pogue on January 31, 1952 in Snyder. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He was an active member of the First Methodist Church in Colorado City where he taught the Men’s Bible class for many years. He served on the Board of Directors for City National Bank and was an active member of the Lions Club. Frank loved helping and supporting the Mitchell County Stock Show.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dovie Brownfield of Colorado City; a son: David and wife, Jacqui Brownfield of Ft. Worth; 2 daughters: Marsha and husband, Dr. Eddie Nixon of Menard and Janet and husband, Robert Courtney of Farmers Branch,TX ; 2 grandchildren, James Nixon of Boston, MA and Elizabeth and husband, Eliud Rodriquez of San Antonio, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Brownfield.
The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Monday, March 26, 2012 at the funeral home.
