He was born to Buford and Bessie McCarty Rich in Colorado City on February 11, 1960.
Gary Don was a hard-working man who put God and family at the center of his life. He worked for a while in the oil industry, but his heart and soul were at home on the ranch where he taught his family great life values. On November 3, 1978, he married the love of his life Belinda Long in Colorado City, and the 2 began their wonderful journey together, raising family and enjoying life. One of his biggest passions in life besides family and work was his love for hunting, a skill that he taught his children and grandchildren always starting them out at 2 years old. He was proud to say that he worked hard to provide for his family, which did not just mean the family at home but also his extended family and the many children he helped to raise along the way, as he was a very giving man always putting that heart of gold to work. Whether it was taking family hunting or going to their stock shows he impacted the life of all he came across. His legacy will be the lessons he taught on true country living and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Gary Don is survived by his loving wife Belinda Rich of Westbrook, by his daughters Crystal Mauldin and husband Jody of Merkel, Kayla Beavers and husband Corey of Colorado City and Madison Rice of San Angelo, as well as by grandchildren Stormy Mauldin, McCoy Mauldin, and Riggin Beavers. He is also survived by 2 special family members Haley Cogburn and Shelby Cogburn and by brothers Cleburne Rich and wife Metha of Westbrook and James D.
