

Colorado City- Mr. Lawrence “Red” Smith, age 69, went home to be with the Lord on March 4, 2010 in Kent County, Texas. Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. this evening at the funeral home .Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at House of Hope Community Church with Rev. Floyd Green, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Mitchell County Cemetery under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Lawrence was born on February 7, 1941 to Iree Smith and Jessie Davis Smith in Navarro County in East Texas. He was a graduate of Richland, Texas School District. Shortly after graduation he joined the United States Army. He and his wife Mary (Patsy) Smith moved to Colorado City in the early 70’s from Dallas, Texas. Lawrence was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and just recently he had become a faithful worker at the House of Hope Community Church and he also worked Ezell-Key of Snyder for many years.
Lawrence is survived by his loving wife, Mary, and his granddaughter, Zaria of Colorado City; son, Anthony Smith of Amarillo; sisters, Nancy Jean Deangerfield and husband, Jesse of Grand Prairie and Clara Horace and husband, Jimmy of Dallas; brothers, R.L. Henley and wife, Evelyn of Dallas and Darell
Henley and wife, Leana also of Dallas; He also leaves a host of nieces, and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Iree and Jessie Smith; daughter, Jackie Smith; grandson, Brian Smith and six brothers and two sisters.
