She was born on February 19, 1978 in Lubbock, Texas to Jerry Carroll and Vickie Kingery.
Leanne was always a curious young lady. She was a city girl with a country girl’s heart. Even though she grew up in Lubbock where she was a magnet school student, she loved going to her grandparents’ house where she enjoyed bird hunting and became familiar with the country life, helping with raising cattle, calves, and horses. Leanne learned to love all animals (even the wild ones), especially dogs. At one point she even had a pet opossum. In her younger years Leanne participated in gymnastics and tennis during school, later on in highschool she was a lifeguard at the city swimming pools in Lubbock and she volunteered at the Animal Rescue Center in Lubbock where her love of animals led her to her passion for biology and animal surgery.
After high school Leanne attended Texas Tech where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology which she paid for by working part time at an animal veterinary clinic. After graduation she moved to Memphis Tennessee with her college roommate until her maternal grandfather got ill and she felt moved to move back to the Lubbock area to care for him until his passing. She remained in Lubbock until her mother passed away then moved to Odessa where she helped to tutor science and math to junior college students until she could no longer work. Her warm smile and the care she showed so many over the years by caring for their animals or helping them to enhance their education truly left a mark on so many and will be remembered fondly.
Leanne is survived by her father Jerry Carroll of Odessa, by 3 maternal cousins in Waco and by her 3 paternal cousins Glenn Kennedy and wife Ann of Odessa, Sharmin Adkins and husband Mike of Odessa, and Tiffany Morales and husband Mike of Brownwood, as well as by several 2nd cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, by her mother Vickie Kingery, by an uncle Richard Kingery, and by an aunt Evelena Kennedy.
