He was born in Colorado City on September 3, 1957 to Eloy and Emma Melcher Martinez.
Lewis was a simple man who enjoyed living life to its fullest. He was a good father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who was always there to lend a hand when it was needed. He spent his life working hard to provide for those that he loved and in his free time loved to cut loose listening to music with his friends barbecuing with family, playing or watching softball, and simply kicking back and having a few beers. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
Lewis is survived by his sons Fabian Martinez and Lewis Martinez Jr and wife Elisa of Sweetwater, by a daughter Stacey DeLeon and husband Matt of Sweetwater, by stepdaughters Vanessa Escajeda of Fort Stockton and Belisha Escajeda of Midland, as well as by grandchildren Noah, Hannah, Halle, Aaliyah, Lexi, Brylee, and Aspen and by great-grandchildren Ashton, Avianna, Jonah, Cohen, and Cason. He is also survived by the mother of his children Irene Martinez, his girlfriend Mavis Escajeda, and by brothers Frank Martinez and wife Rosa of Colorado City, Ray Martinez and wife MaryAnn of Buffalo Gap and Tommy Martinez and wife Hilda of San Antonio and by sisters Rosie Martinez of Big Spring and Josie Shy and husband Montie of Abilene, as well as by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eloy and Emma Martinez and by a son Michael Martinez.
