Maria DeJesus “Chita” Gonzalez Montemayor, 65, Colorado City passed away peacefully at the Mitchell County Nursing and Rehabilitation facility in Colorado City with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.
She was born on May 13, 1952 in Muzquiz Coah, Mexico to Manuel and Magdalena Gonzalez Montemayor.
Maria was a woman who enjoyed even the simplest things in life and who loved to be with family. In her spare time she could be seen refinishing old furniture, or working on her plants in her garden.
Maria is survived by her fiancée Angel Aguinaga, brothers Manuel Gonzalez of Kerrville, Roberto and Antonio Gonzales of Colorado City, by sisters Velia Vasquez, Sylvia ( Alvie Stephens ) Sanford of Colorado City, and Yolanda Stafford and husband Omego of Buffalo NY. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother and step father, and by her sisters Magdalena Serna and Chonita Gonzales.
A memorial service for Chita will be held on Wednesday, September 6th at 11 am in the Kiker Seale Funeral Home Chapel with Father Michael Udegbunam officiating. Burial will follow in the Mitchell County Cemetery.
