He was born on December 27, 1943 in Colorado City to Emerson and Doris McCarty Garrett.
Robert was a man who enjoyed quiet reflections and keeping his life private. He served his country well in the United States Army, earning a purple heart before being honorably discharged. After his time in the Army Robert spent many years as a postal carrier delivering mail for several different communities until he retired. He was a rootin-tootin cowboy at heart who enjoyed a good smoke and a stiff drink, and earning his love was truly something special. In his spare time he enjoyed working with his hands building crafts, going for quiet walks in the pasture, reading a good book, or just being out side.
He is survived by two sons Scott Garrett and wife Rebecca Rudisaile of Killeen and Cody Garrett, by a daughter Jeanny “Janet” Garrett of Austin, and by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Willy Garrett and wife Mildred of Colorado City, by sisters June Hickson and husband Harlon of Buffalo Gap and Carolyn Mayberry of Colorado City, as well as by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by brothers Tom Garrett and Jerry Garrett, and by sisters Jo Nell Pilkington and Rachel Winn.
A private memorial for Robert will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kiker Seale Funeral Home
