

Colorado City- Mr. Roy A. Wilson, age 66, passed away on Thursday, October 07, 2010 in the Mitchell County Hospital. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 8, 2010. Funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church in Colorado City on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Terry White and Rev. Jim Mosley officiating and burial to follow in the Colorado City Cemetery under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral home.
Roy was born on November 28, 1943 to Arthur and Bernice Sweatt Wilson. He was a lifetime resident of Mitchell County. He was a member of Westbrook Baptist Church and attended Westbrook High School. Roy married Brenda Conard on July 4, 1987 in Colorado City. He was a cowboy on the Spade Ranch for 40 years. He was well known for his horsemanship skills as well as for his ability to gather wild cattle with cow dogs he raised and trained. He was instrumental in developing a breed of cow dogs called the Cattlemaster. He team roped for a number of years and was known by many as “Double Hock”.
He leaves behind his wife, Brenda Wilson of Colorado City; sons, Mike Wilson and Renee of Colorado City and Matthew Wilson and wife, Hannah of Colorado City; daughters, Kathi Carter of Houston and Kyla McGuffin and husband, Dawson of Colorado City; grandsons: Dane Carter and wife, Jamie and Brik McGuffin; granddaughters, Kandon Paul and husband, Kyle, Kail Wilson, Mandy Wilson and Tana Ashworth; 2 great grandchildren; sister, Virginia Claxton and husband, Lloyd of Big Spring and sister-in-law, Joan Parker and husband, Gene of Colorado City, mother-in-law, Billie Faye Conard of Midland and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth Wilson
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Westbrook Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
