Anne Rehberg Miller

COLUMBIA - Anne Rehberg Miller, a longtime resident of Columbia, passed away peacefully at her home in Columbia on Tuesday, January 30, 2018. She was 89. She was born in Florence, South Carolina on April 2, 1928, the daughter of Lucy Perry Rehberg and Carl Henry Rehberg.

Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Robert Menzies Miller; brother, Samuel Taylor; and sister, Doris Detwiler. She is survived by her sons, Bruce (Rita) and Brian (Sherry); daughter, Lucy Haskins (Ken); granddaughter, Jane Miller; grandsons, Jim Miller, Kevin Haskins (Kasey) and Scott Haskins; great-grandson, Jackson Haskins; niece, Ellen Taylor; and nephews, Roger and Steve Taylor and David and Rick Detwiler.

For most of her childhood, Anne lived in Columbia and was a graduate of Columbia High School. She attended Wesleyan College and the University of South Carolina. After living in a number of cities on the east coast with her family, she returned to live in Columbia permanently in 1976 after her husband, Paul, passed away. She worked for a number of years as a school secretary in Richland County District One and in retirement, Anne was a devoted volunteer at Harvest Hope Food Bank and at Providence Hospital. Since 1975, she has been a member of St. Martin’s-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church.

Anne enjoyed spending time with her family and delighted in her great-grandson, Jackson. She loved pets, both cats and dogs, and they loved her as well. Anne played bridge and enjoyed having lunch with her longtime girlfriends from elementary school. She loved South Carolina beaches, chocolate and her cat, Gracie. She will truly be missed by her family and friends.

The family would like to thank Palmetto Health Hospice and all the caregivers who lovingly assisted Anne in the last months.
