Betty Jane Teichmiller Sandlin, age 90, passed away on Wednesday July 27, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born to Herman and Mary Teichmiller in Cullman, Alabama on June 22, 1932, where she met and later married, Thearl “Sandy” Sandlin. They were married for 67 years.
Betty, an Army wife, provided great support to her family. She also supported her community through volunteering with the Army wives club for many years. When her husband Sandy retired and became manager of the Bowling Centers at Fort Jackson, Betty (known to all as mom) would spend time there hanging out with her friends.
Houseplants and gardening were Betty’s passion. She could grow anything and loved to visit the local garden center to add to her collection. She could often be found tending her plants or yard.
Everyone who knew Betty knows she was a clean freak. Her home was always ready to welcome friends and family.
Regardless of how bad she felt, she never showed it. Betty will be remembered as being a jokester and fun-loving person. Her fabulous green beans, which were a staple at all family functions, will be greatly missed.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Sherre Hudson; son, Michael Sandlin (Catherine); grandchildren, Taylor Hudson (Nicole), Emily Sandlin, Elise Sandlin, and great grandchildren, Jack Hudson, Hollis Hudson, Houston Proveaux, and Maesyn Proveaux. She is also survived by her two dogs, Willie and Bernie, who never left her side. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Thearl “Sandy” Sandlin; brothers, Carl Teichmiller and John Teichmiller; sister, Ruth Sands and granddaughter, Holley Hudson (Alden).
Momma, we love you.
