

COLUMBIA Requiem Mass for Billy Whiteford Mungo, 83, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2015, at the Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2015, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Mr. Mungo died Sunday, September 20, 2015. Born in Bethune, he was a son of the late Walter Whiteford and Lena Beatrice Baker Mungo. A 1954 graduate of the University of S.C., he retired as real estate developer and Senior Vice President of Mungo Company after 37 years of service. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a founding member and very active in St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Chapin and was a current member of the Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal. An avid fan and supporter of the USC Gamecocks, he loved to fish and play golf. He was a member of Mid-Carolina Country Club Senior Golf Association and a Shriner at Jamil Temple. Surviving are his daughter, Tonya M. Neeley (Vic) of Callawassie Island; grandsons, Darrell Neeley of Hilton Head Island, William Neeley of Bluffton; and sister, Vera Scott of Lexington. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Christie Muller; son, Scott Mungo, sisters, Ann Williams, Atha Lee West, Myrtis Mungo; and brothers, Walter Mungo and Michael J. Mungo.
