

Bobbie was born April 26, 1940 in Winston-Salem, NC and grew up in Columbia, SC. She graduated from Dreher High School and the University of South Carolina, earning a Master’s Degree in Education. Bobbie put her degree to good use while being a school librarian for many years. Always an avid reader, she enjoyed reading many genres, always wanting to learn more. She enjoyed her career where she loved interacting with the children right up until her retirement.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nellie Maye Carter Hawks and Daniel Porter Hawks, sisters Karen Madison and Evangeline McDowell, and brothers, Virgil Hawks and Deron Hawks. Bobbie is survived by her loving sister, Frances Browder, Brother-in-Law Steve Madison; Nephews Jeff Browder and Daniel Madison (Jolene); Nieces Tracey Rease (Wayne) and Alana Schaeffer (Robert); Great Nephews Jeffrey Browder, Jack Madison (Taylor) and Luke Madison; Great Niece Kristin Henderson; and Great, Great Niece Emma Henderson.
The family of Bobbie Hawks would like to thank the staff at Opus Rehabilitation and Agape Hospice for their loving care during the most recent illness.
A celebration of life will be held at Rose Hill Presbyterian Church, where Bobbie was a member for 77 years, on Sunday, May 3rd at 3:00 PM with a visitation in the church parlor at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
