Dorothy Jean Sneed, age 77, entered into eternal rest on September 22, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion. Born on January 16, 1948, in Karnack, Texas, to Rebecca Grant and Charlie Jones, Dorothy displayed from an early age a heart full of compassion and a spirit dedicated to serving others. She lived her life as a devoted mother, grandmother, and servant of Christ, touching the lives of all who knew her with warmth, kindness, and a listening ear.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rebecca Grant and Charlie Jones, and her son, Christopher Sneed, as well as her siblings Charlie Marie Thompson, James Lewis, Vilma Jean, and Charlie Jones, Jr. Dorothy’s memory is lovingly cherished by her siblings, Katie Hubbard and Wesley Jones (Brenda).
Dorothy was the proud mother of Fredrick Jones, Angelia Jones, Carolette Robertson, Vince Sneed, Quince Sneed (Sophia), and the late Christopher Sneed (Tonya), her two adoptive children, Bishop Gerald “Lil Brother” Haynes and Evangelist Ida “Sister Punchie” Haynes, and seven bonus children. She was the beloved grandmother of 33 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immeasurable joy and filled her life with laughter and love.
Dorothy had a remarkable gift for touching the lives of everyone she met. She ministered, evangelized, and shared the love of Christ with an open heart, never hesitating to lend kindness, respect, and compassion to all. Dorothy never met a stranger; she welcomed everyone with warmth, a gentle smile, and an open heart. She lived the spirit of Christ not just through her words, but through her actions, showing all of us the beauty of loving others selflessly. Her love, her faith, and her generosity will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A woman of deep faith, Dorothy dedicated her life to ministry. She touched countless lives through evangelism, prison ministry, and women’s ministry, preaching across the world in places throughout Europe. In a remarkable act of faith and courage, Dorothy, alongside her brother in Christ Ennis, provided Bibles with people in East Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall—a testament to her bold commitment to spreading the Word of God and bringing hope to others. She was college educated, a music genius, gifted in teaching the Word, and had a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
Dorothy was also a woman of many talents and passions. She loved music and was highly skilled: she played the piano, organ, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, sang, and directed the choir—sometimes ministering in the same evening she performed. She also played drums, harmonica, and tambourine. She delighted in dancing, cheerleading, cooking, baking, and sharing her knowledge of the Bible. A true fashionista, her motto was, “Baby, never let them see you sweat!” She found joy in collecting dolls and bells, listening to music, enjoying the beauty of birds, volunteering in hospitals, attending church, and shopping.
Her life was a testament to love, strength, and grace. Dorothy lived to serve others, embodying Christ’s compassion and leaving a legacy of faith, kindness, and resilience. She will forever be remembered for her unwavering love for God and her family, and for the way she made every person feel seen, valued, and loved.
Though her journey on earth has ended, Dorothy’s spirit lives on in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and all who were blessed by her presence.
