Eileen was born in 1925 in Greenwich, Connecticut and was the daughter of Thomas P Hall and Mary (Trefry) Hall. She was predeceased by her parents, as well as her siblings, Margaret Stuart and Thomas Hall Jr.
Eileen worked as a telephone operator with New York Telephone and Telegraph company (and its successors) until her retirement at the age of 62. She resided in Port Chester, New York; Bowie, Maryland; and for the last 21 years, Lexington, South Carolina.
Eileen’s Catholic faith was central to her, she attended daily mass for most of her life. When she lost her vision and could no longer drive, Eileen continued to attend daily Mass by walking to church, reciting the rosary while she walked to and from church.
Despite her limited financial means, she quietly and generously supported several catholic orders, charities as well as Corpus Christi Church and many local charitable organizations.
Fiercely independent, Eileen lived in her own home independently until nearly her 100th birthday. She was an avid audiobook reader, and continued to follow all news, sports, and world events until her last days.
Eileen never married and had no children of her own but was an important part of the lives of her nieces and nephews and their children.
She is survived by those nephews & nieces: Raymond (Irene) Stuart Bloomingdale, NJ; Carol Bardelli (Stuart) of Myrtle Beach, SC; Kevin (Lesley) Stuart of Lexington, SC; Maureen (Stuart) and Paul Blasko of Bowie, MD; Tara (Stuart) and John Purcell of New City, NY; as well as many great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces & nephews. Eileen will also be missed greatly by her extended family in England.
We would like to thank the staff, & Sadie (resident therapy dog) at Hospice House of Lexington for their compassionate care and dedication to Eileen in her last days.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 15th at 10:00 A.M. at The Basilica of Saint Peter, 1529 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
