Eppie Elizabeth Dent of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2026. She is survived by her brother, Ray Dent (Stacey Shugart) of Blythewood, SC; sister, Flory Coates (Troy) of Winnsboro, SC; nephew, Austin Coates of Charleston, SC; her closest friends for 48 years, Mary Zealy Jenkins (Michael) of Columbia, SC, and Rajena Miles, of Lugoff, SC; aunts, nieces, and nephews.
Born in Columbia, South Carolina, on December 11, 1957, Eppie attended Richland County schools and graduated from Columbia College. She obtained her nursing degree from Midlands Technical College and worked for many years as a critical care nurse at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.
Eppie was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Eppes Dent, and mother, Margaret King. The family wishes to thank the staff of Mental Illness Recovery Center where Eppie lived for many years; and, to Forest Acres Post Acute and MUSC Hospital for their excellent care during Eppie's illness.
