Frances Nelson Grimes

COLUMBIA - Frances Nelson Grimes, 99, passed away on Sunday, October, 24, 2021. She was born in Georgetown, SC, on July 6, 1922, to the late Charles Greenwood and Nell Jones Nelson. Frances was predeceased by her husband the late Thomas Edwin Grimes. She is survived by her son Thomas E. Grimes (Mary Helen Sinclair), daughter Beth G. Williams (Ronnie), granddaughter Allison Williams (Mike), Thomas Grimes, and Elizabeth Perrine (Pete), great granddaughters, Savannah and Sophia Williams, and Peyton Grimes.

Frances was a longtime member at Washington Street United Methodist Church where she was a volunteer in the soup cellar and worked for many years as a bank teller at C&S bank.

The family would like to thank the medical staff on third floor at Prisma Health Baptist and the in-house Prisma Health Hospice team. We would also like to thank Firstlight Home Care of Columbia's caregivers and staff. A very special thank you to Dr. Terry Grainger, Dr. Aziz Petawala, Dr. Brad Lewis and Dr. Berthrand Onuoha. The family has only grateful thanks to everyone for their love, care and prayers.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
