COLUMBIA - A graveside service for Grover James Martin, 78, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2022 in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mr. Martin died Sunday, May 15, 2022. Born in Calhoun County, he was a son of the late John William Martin and Mary Swygert Fickling. He was employed as an Automotive Maintenance Supervisor with Richland County. He was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran. A member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, he loved camping and fishing. He shared his love for the outdoors by serving as a Scout Master with the Boy Scouts.
Surviving are his sons, Grover James Martin Jr. (Kimberly) of Deland, Fla., Todd DeLoache Martin of Columbia; two grandchildren, Hunter James Martin and Hannah Katherine Dill (Connor). He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Katherine Senn Martin and brother, Willie Martin.
