COLUMBIA - A Memorial Mass for Harry Thomas “Tommy” Atkins, III, 65, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 8, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mr. Atkins passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2020. Born in Columbia on June 2, 1955, he was a son of Patricia Hirch Atkins of Columbia and the late Harry Thomas Atkins, Jr.
Tommy grew up in St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a graduate of Lower Richland High School. Most recently, he worked for Carolina Care. He loved fishing, camping, and was an avid Gamecock fan. Tommy was a loving husband, son, brother, and uncle. He was a great storyteller and loved to make people laugh.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Pippin Atkins of Columbia; his mother of Columbia; sister, Jennifer A. Barnett (Aaron) of Newton, Mississipi; three nieces; two nephews; six great-nephews; and his beloved dogs, Beasley and Riley.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a sister, Pamela A. Sizemore.
