Born on October 19, 1943, in Albany, New York, to the late Rose Ann and Courtney Price, Jay lived a life full of remarkable achievements and deep connections with family, friends, and his community.
A founding member and Chairman of the Board of the Peaceful Valley Paralytic & Amputee Corporation of Hancock, Massachusetts, Jay also held a distinguished position as a member and past Master of Greenbush-Schondak Union Lodge 87 Free and Accepted Masons. He served as Secretary of the New York State Coin Machine Association and was the Founder of the Capital District Coin Machine Association, serving as President for three years. Notably, Jay was the youngest Past Master Mason in the state of New York.
A lesser-known achievement of Jay’s was his invention of the Easy Lift, a device that allowed one person to move and install a 300-pound, 10-foot round satellite dish single-handedly. This groundbreaking invention revolutionized the way satellite dishes were installed.
After retiring from a 20-year career at Dillard Paper Company (International Paper) as a service technician on their manufacturing machines, Jay pursued his passion for music. He founded Daddy-O Radio, the first music station to stream 24 hours a day on the internet. He also enjoyed flying kites and was an expert jigsaw puzzle enthusiast.
Jay was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann (Trappaso) Price, and his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Linda Moorman Ehrhardt Price, and his stepdaughters, Katherine Ehrhardt Traub (Danny) of Lexington, SC, and Sarah Ehrhardt Finney (Jason) of Aiken, SC. Jay is also survived by five wonderful grandchildren: Wilson Ehrhardt (Melanie), Livingston Finney, Jameson Finney, Jack Traub, and Luke Traub. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Roddy Wayne Catlin of Albany, NY. Jay will be greatly missed by his dog, Lady, who he shared with Linda.
The family will celebrate Jay’s life privately.
