

Born in Columbia, South Carolina, on July 20, 1957, Jayne was the daughter of the late Dr. Luther and Martha Elmgren. Jayne graduated from Dreher in 1975. In 1979, she graduated from the University of South Carolina where she pledged Kappa Delta and served as president. Jayne furthered her education at Midlands Tech earning an associate's degree in health sciences specializing in radiology. She began her radiology career at Richland Memorial Hospital as an x-ray technician and eventually advanced to an administrator. After a long, successful career at Richland, Jayne continued her love for x-ray working part time at ImageCare.
Jayne had an entrepreneurial spirit and started various businesses. Jayne's strong work ethic, gregarious personality and goodness all contributed to her businesses being successful. Her final business adventure was Blue Flame Bartending; she bartended weddings throughout South Carolina and South Carolina football games(where she was beloved).
Jayne is survived by partner Bonnie Dempsey; sister Martie Elmgren(Jeff Graydon); nephews Luke(Jenny) of Summerville, South Carolina, and Tradd (Marrianne) Cooper of Chapin, South Carolina; great nephews Camp and Beckett; great nieces Tatum and Poppy; nephew Hunt Graydon(Tara Warner) of Columbia, South Carolina; and niece Logan Graydon of Cayman Islands.
A service will be held for Jayne Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 2:00 at Dunbar Funeral Home on Devine Street. A celebration of Jayne's life will follow at the home of Martie Elmgren and Jeff Graydon, 4908 Kilbourne Road, Columbia, South Carolina, 29206. Since Jayne was such a passionate Gamecock fan, the family asks attendees wear Gamecock attire or colors.

Jayne was your “go to” when you needed emotional support or life advice, or simply a good laugh! Jayne was generous with her time, her attention and her love. Jayne cherished her family and friends and was grateful for their steadfast presence in her life as they were for Jayne in their lives. Ever fun, loyal and inclusive, Jayne continues to be an inspiration of dignity and strength to all who were fortunate to have known Jayne.
