COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Jean Gunter Johnson, 86, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2025 at The Basilica of Saint Peter, with burial in St. Peter’s Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 5:00 pm Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with visitation following until 7:00 pm.
Mrs. Johnson died Monday, April 28, 2025. Born in Columbia, SC, she retired as an executive assistant for State of South Carolina Department of Social Services. She enjoyed painting with acrylics. Jean was a member of The Basilica of Saint Peter.
Surviving are her daughter, Carrie Deaton; sons, Christopher Johnson and Phillip Johnson; grandchildren, Markus Johnson (Kayla), Caroline Deaton, and Kaysha Fontenot; and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Phillip Roland Johnson; mother, Carolyn Gunter; grandparents, Martha and Elliott Gunter; and son, Phillip Roland Johnson, Jr.
