

Jean Mustard Weldon died June 27, 2024 in her room at Presbyterian Community of South Carolina. She was born in Charleston South Carolina October 2, 1923 to Mary Annie Moore Mustard and Allan Calvitte Mustard Jr. Her siblings were Anna Legare Hinson, Sydney Walter Mustard and Allan C. Mustard III.
She grew up at 203 Broad Street and kept a rowboat on Colonial Lake during her early years. She was a graduate of the College of Charleston and a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She married Hugh Wilson Weldon of Bishopville in 1944, a marriage that would last over 60 years. Her 3 sons: Hugh Wilson “Skip” Jr. (Ann), Allan Mustard (Norma), Richard Moore (Lynne) were all born in Charleston. The family moved to Columbia in 1959.
A devout Christian, she was elected moderator of the women of the church at Shandon Presbyterian in 1963. She also was awarded Honorary Lifetime Membership by the Presbyterian Women. She served as a Stephen minister and was a longtime member of the Ray Riddle Sunday school class. She was elected ruling elder by the congregation.
In later years, Jean and Hugh moved to Presbyterian Community. She was predeceased by Hugh and Skip. In addition to her children she will be mourned by 5 grandchildren, Richard Jr., David, Laurie Jean, Daniel, Robert and 6 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Community in Lexington chapel Friday, July 5, 2024 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior. She will be entombed in the memorial garden at Shandon Presbyterian Church, next to Hugh.
