Mrs. Godfrey, a resident of Columbia, passed away at her home on Friday, January 23, 2026. She was born in Augusta, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Godfrey, and her parents, Campbell Kerns Batson and Leslie McClure Bush.
She is survived by her three daughters: Joie Solomon (Steve), Kerri Nordan (Randy), and Elizabeth Cook (Mike). She also leaves behind five grandchildren—Brian Godfrey, Savannah Clements, Jamie Junis, Chad Solomon, and Tyler Korth—as well as ten great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Godfrey worked in the china department and bridal registry at JB Whites, Belk, and Dillard's for 35 years. After retiring, she worked at the South Carolina Wildlife Shop for three years. Additionally, she volunteered for 11 years at Baptist Hospital and for 3 years at Lexington Medical Center.
As the matriarch of her family, Mrs. Godfrey cherished spending time with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes included family gatherings during holidays, visiting the beach, gardening, watching her flowers bloom, and participating in Aqua Zumba. She played a significant role in our family and will be dearly missed by everyone.
