

A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Candy , sons, John of Asheville, NC,(Samantha Moody) Tate of Tokyo, Japan and Nashville, TN; siblings, Huss Fennell (Sharon), Jenny Syracuse (George), Helen Fennell (Joe Robinson), brother-in-law, G.G. Galloway (Cindy), sister-in-law, Gay Lynn Armstrong (Paul), nieces and nephews, Huss Fennell, Chapel Fennell, Myer Syracuse (Sallie), Alison Rodgers, Grier Galloway (Lacy), Haley Galloway, Elizabeth Boylan (Patrick), Robert Armstrong, Hunter Armstrong, and his beloved dog, Peabody. John is predeceased by his parents, Captain and Mrs. H.C. Fennell, Sr.
Born in Columbia, John was a lifelong resident of South Carolina. His career included Facilities Manager for South Carolina Tees Inc. and other development ventures including the renovation of the Debruhl-Marshall House. He attended A.C. Flora High School where he played football and baseball. He then graduated from the University of South Carolina. A beloved member of the community, he was an avid outdoorsman ho enjoyed hunting, golfing, farming, fishing and his children’s activities. His snarky sense of humor and loyalty will not be forgotten.
